Hey there! I moved to Pahrump, Nevada in the summer of 2017. Shortly after I moved here, I noticed a trash problem on BLM land and along the roadsides while out riding my horse.
One day, after boldly suggesting on a social media site that someone simply pick up some trash that they were otherwise complaining about, the admin of said site got involved and scolded me for suggesting that someone actually do something for their community and help clean up. The same person then suggested that I go off and create a betterment of Pahrump page, or something to that effect. That afternoon I drove my truck off of S. Fox Ave onto BLM land. It took me 1 hour to load the bed of my truck with trash, and that is how I came up with the concept of cleaning up 1 hour weekly.
From there I enlisted help and the rest is history: CLEAN up PAHRUMP® was born!
Jump to 2022: After being away from New England for nearly 5 years I felt called back to my home territory.
At that point, CLEAN up PAHRUMP® joined forces with Desert Pigs and became their first southern Nevada chapter.
Fast forwarding once again to 2023: it took about a year away to realize that New England just wasn’t my home any longer. There’s definitely something to be said about 300+ days of sun. Mid July, I once again packed up my horse, dog, and belongings and made the journey back to the desert and rejoined CuP!
If you live in Pahrump, Nevada please consider contributing to or joining the team!

Jason moved to Pahrump almost 20 years ago and got involved with this organization because he saw the group cleaning up parts of the desert everyone enjoys using. His favorite quote is "if you're not part of the solution then you're part of the problem."
Cheryl loves nature and the great outdoors but she doesn't like litter and illegal dumping. She joined CuP to meet new people and do something good for the community. She also enjoys the teamwork, camaraderie, exercise, and instant results of cleaning up. Feel free to wave and honk if you see Cheryl!
My name is Lesa Wald. I have lived in Pahrump for 30 years. I have seen a lot of growth in this town. I know If we all work together, we can keep our town beautiful.
